News:
- Obsidian Wave Exercise - 9/19/2026 went well. FSQ and Olivia were used. In November, we will
begin to rotate through the modes on Thursdays. Look for the schedule on the calendar next
month.
- SET - October 10th. Schedule:
- All day Winlink - reports from critical locations, determined by the operators. They can
come in VIA gateway (telnet or HF) or through peer-to-peer (center frequency 3.567). All
should be addressed to AC1IX.
- Need Winlink for your phone? On iPhone | Android
- 2 PM Skywarn - weather reports via the DMR Skywarn channel.
- Any local nets that can be organized. A good time to exercise any local nets, including FRS/GMRS
ones. Just please let me know so I can roll up the numbers. This is an area I want to expand for
next year, see post linked below.
- No linked systems will be utilized for this event. We need to sure we have resliance beyond
those systems.
Weather reports in Southern Vermont (under the Albany NWS) will now be able to be reported to
Albany. A chat system is in use there so not quite the same reporting, however, all partners get it
instantly.
After discussions with my fellow SECs, I have a new plan for next year's SET. We were talking about
expanding our networks using local non-licensed operators. This will require
local outreach to communities. Please see communication networks
for more information about what that could look like.
