Errata:
Last month I listed WRRC incorrectly in 2 places. Both the calendar and the newsletter had it as
7:50 instead of 7:30 and the newsletter has it listed as WRCC.
The calendar page is updated more frequently than
once a month. If anyone has a net or an event that I missed, please let me know and I will add it.
News:
- I have seen no ideas submitted for portable HF digital stations, however, these YouTube sites do
cover some parts.
KM6LYW The DigiPi guy, he also handles other
digital modes on his videos.
KM4ACK lots of field content as he goes out
and tests digital modes.
- So far I have not seen traffic on JS8 Call. Thursdays I will start announcing a net, rather than
have people just do signal reports. The original goal was to see how we could link the state
through an alternate route in case of emergency. Our current plans include a reliance on linked
repeaters. Last month showed how we can lose a part of that network and the impact.
- ARRL mentioned the Ellsworth Amateur Wireless Association (EAWA) Ham Radio Symposium, held on
Saturday, April 18. One presentation was that Maine is creating an off-gird mesh network. While
the URL in the email may not resolve, I was able to find a Github site that talks about the project
and has links for more information. There is also a presentation on YouTube.
- NFMRA is looking to enable internet linking for the repeaters using T-Mobile cell modems. While
RF has not been removed, Killington is linked and Monkton and Graniteville will
be gettng the modems. This should provide a more reliable setup. This news is from an email from
Paul (W1IMD).
